How Refinishing Works
Sanding and refinishing are two crucial techniques involved with beautifying old hardwood floors. Our services can transform your house and provide you with opportunities to rearrange and redecorate. Think of it as a blank slate. Our process is as follows:
Preparation
Before we begin refinishing, our team takes a series of steps to ensure the process is smooth and uninterrupted. We remove all the existing shoe molding / quarter round molding, set any protruding nails and makes repairs when necessary.
Removing the Existing Finish
We can’t refinish your hardwood floors until we remove the existing finish. We utilize a number of passes with different grits and various sanding machines including a belt sander, edger and palm sanders.
Finish Sanding
Once we remove the existing finish from your floors to bare wood, we begin using a planetary sanding machine called an Epoch. This machine achieves a finer, more precise sanding effect, which is essential to guaranteeing our work’s exactness. We remove scratches and smooth the floor during this stage of the process, so it is uniform.
Vacuuming
We pledge to leave your property 99% dust-less. Once we finish sanding, we thoroughly vacuum every inch of your floors. To be sure, our team makes several passes, careful to get the corners and crevices. Vacuuming is especially essential if you’re investing in the next steps.
Optional Staining
